Paternity leave

Paternity leave is a period of absence from work which is granted to a father after or shortly before the birth of his child.
There is no proper legislation for paternity benifts. The only provision that exist in India which allows only 15 days leave for the father. Although most workers have no access to paid parental leave at all, more employers paid maternity leave than paid paternity leave.
Parental leave is a concept which aims to make work places more family friendly. When there is the birth of a baby in the family, these policies allow for the possibility of taking a leave of absence – by the mother, father or in some cases both – to take care of the child. This leave could be either paid or unpaid. What it attempts to ensure is that the caretaker can balance both a family and a job. However, parental leaves often only translate into maternity leaves, very rarely are they ever for the father. In India, the concept of paternity leave is new and many men don’t even avail it, even if they get it. It’s more about the mindset than companies or laws. Also, new parents here have a huge support system, be it the parents or domestic helps. But, in a nuclear family, it’s imperative for fathers to be more hands-on. Slowly, people are becoming more aware.
But this time has brought us closer to humanity, where today we have come to know that every moment of life is precious, it is wise to live with everyone openly.
